I’ve decided to start writing this series about life lessons I’ve learned from a cool girl named Casey. I began working as a caretaker for Casey in June of 2019. Casey is 21 years old and was born with a Deletion in Chromosome 13. What does this mean for Casey? Well Casey lives her 21 year old life in the world of about a 7 or 8 year old. Casey is small in stature and has other difficulties when it comes to talking, mobility and dexterity. Think about your average elementary aged student, they typically have things they focus on such as; favorite colors, TV shows and foods. Casey focuses on 5 things; the color green, Tinker Bell, Nemo, her two pets and chicken nuggets and fries. I hope through this series all you reading will come to love Casey as much as I do. Casey has taught me a lot in our time together and I know she will continue to teach me more. I believe we all have quite a few lessons to learn from Casey especially when it comes to her world view which I will now be calling Casey Culture. Casey Culture is the way Casey acts, responds, learns, dresses and a whole lot more. I hope all of you who take the time to read this will come to learn what Casey Culture truly is and better yourselves from it. I'm so thankful to have such a cool job learning from my best friend so now I'm excited to see what she will teach all of you.
